UCD NVRL is pleased to announce that we are introducing testing for Hepatitis Delta (HDV) RNA in house from 8^th March 2024, using the RealStar® HDV RT-PCR Kit 1.0. This is a quantitative HDV realtime PCR assay and as a result samples will no longer need to be referred abroad, resulting in an improved turnaround time assisting patient management.

The test code has been notified and is AHDV. Please use AHDV instead of the current test code MDDG on all requests from 8^th March 2024.

If your request includes a number of different markers, please ensure to send a separate sample for HDV testing – either EDTA or Serum.

Following testing, samples will be referred to the UKHSA (Colindale) as necessary.
