Abstract:

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections occur worldwide and are usually asymptomatic in healthy individuals. However, in immunocompromised individuals and following in utero infection, CMV can cause significant morbidity. The aim of this study was to determine the CMV seroprevalence and association, if any, of HLA Class I alleles with CMV infection in Ireland.
