Change in NVRL secondary anti-HBc and anti-HTLV I/II tests

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

From 19th February onwards, the NVRL will be using the anti-HBc Total Liaison XL test instead of the anti-HBc Total Biorad test and the anti-HTLV I/II Liaison XL test instead of the anti-HTLV I/II Murex test.

Whilst this move was scheduled for April, we have had to bring it forward due to unexpected difficulty with accessing BioRad kits for the anti-HBc.

The Liaison XL assays offer equivalent sensitivity for anti-HBc and anti-HTLV I/II when compared with the Biorad and Murex assays respectively. The anti-HBc Total Liaison XL assay is a reflex assay here at the NVRL and will only be utilised for referral anti-HBc positive samples or as required according to our own testing algorithm(s). Similarly, the anti-HTLV I/II assay is also a reflex test and will only be used per our testing algorithm(s).

The NVRL IT department will provide specific information including relevant test request codes to all users who interact with us electronically.

Please contact the NVRL at 01 716 1347 if you would like to discuss this matter further.
