Resumption of CT/NG testing at NVRL

NVRL is delighted to inform Service Users of the delivery of supplies of Aptima Combo 2® kits – for Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoea (NG) testing.

Delays in supplies of kits due to the ongoing Brexit-related supply chain problems necessitated publication of CN-21-7 on 26th March.

Orders for these kits have now been fulfilled by Hologic® and this means that NVRL can resume normal service in relation to CT/NG testing from 1st April 2021.

Positive samples with Ct values of 25 or lower can be processed for SARS-CoV-2 WGS.

Please indicate the initial Ct value on the request form accompanying the sample to ensure the sample will be processed.  The assay requires 500µL of sample material, either inactivating swab medium or a non-lysing transport medium.  Other sample types may be processed by prior arrangement.

For outbreak investigations, users are requested to send no more than 10 samples in total, ideally including the index case, unless multiple introduction events are suspected.
