Changes to NVRL testing, regarding Measles IgM and Rubella IgM
Measles:
Following a review of testing at NVRL, it was noted that Measles IgM investigations were being requested as part of a general viral screen. Measles IgM testing should be performed when there is a high index of suspicion that the patient has an acute measles infection. In addition, an oral fluid sample should be collected for measles RNA, to facilitate genotyping to identify transmission pathways
